And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Leadership has been one of the most discussed topics. I have come across good literature on leadership, but hardly have I seen such on followership, except when it is scantily discussed in meetings. Jesus was so emphatic about followershp quality when he gave verdict in verse 26 of Luke 14, that no one can be His disciple if such a person does not love Him more than his family and friends.
Followership cost is commitment. Elisha was committed to following Elijah. By economic status, Elisha was stupendously wealthy. He was into mechanized farming, but that did not deter him from being loyal to his master, Elijah. Elisha cost of being God’s servant is letting go ephemeral things for eternal gain.
My candid counsel to anyone that is ready to work for God is that, working for God is your primary assignment on earth that you must not set standard of engagement for yourself except the standard of the scripture. Count the cost and you are sure to be successful.
Good morning and do have a fruitful day.
