My Jolly Funny Ride

It couldn’t have been
Clumsy itinerary
On a busy day
No need to yield

Must it pawn to be
More than for someone
More to many
The jolly good ride

I need a serious thought
For how long
Could this continue to be
Alas no I know

My response appears continuously
Same as it was
It couldn’t have been
But I’m given for others

The life I live
To please self
Or to ease other
That they may go further

Jolly good ride all the way
Buzzing bang bang
On the way I ply
Always to ease others

Who am I?

I came to being from the bin
Deeply from the dim
Shinning with a grin
Everyone seek to know
Who I truly am
Expedition of the bleeders
They soon got clues
Inkling to my forming
They found out my luxury
They came in droves
Mirror and gun powder were gifted
To kill my soul
To fail my memory
To see myself wrongly
Yes, I’m black
Black is very bad
I live in the jungle
Animals do likewise
I no longer know who I am
Frabjous they shout
Mission half accomplished
My mind darkly enslaved
My soul roughly ravaged
My person wrongly pushed
Shaw saw us
She did it for us
Post natal rituals
That nomenclature sticked till now

Because She’s Lovely

Long ago in my mind
Reeling out composure
For a capture of worth
That will be true wholly

Guess how I saw it
Simple crafted dimpled look
I was sure in for a big thing
Never to recover

Because she’s lovely
I’m set to find out what’s more
The basis of the revelations
Though little I have seen

I really can’t understand
I’m sure she’s truly lovely
Lovingly lovelier she’s always
Newly appearing each moment

Gone are the days
While I’ll be disturbed
What’s she brooding over
Could it be out of context

It was like never nor ever
Either here or there
One conclusion will always be
She’s truly lovely

How Old Are You?

By Pastor E A Adeboye
Theme : How Old Are You?
Memorise :
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts
unto wisdom. Psalms 90:12
Read : Psalms 90:1-12
1 LORD, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst
formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to
everlasting, thou art God.
3 Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye
children of men.
4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it
is past, and as a watch in the night.
5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep:
in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.
6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it
is cut down, and withereth.
7 For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we
troubled.
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the
light of thy countenance.
9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our
years as a tale that is told.
10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by
reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength
labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
11 Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to
thy fear, so is thy wrath.
12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our
hearts unto wisdom.

The theme of Psalm 90 focuses on making the most of the short
lifespan that we have as mortal human beings. The passage
speaks of death as returning to dust, and discusses the total
lifespan of man as being transitory, like an ordinary grass of the
field. It also describes what humans proudly refers to as
glorious years as a short lifespan spend serious labour and
great sorrow. Therefore, Psalm 90 discusses the concept of
human life with such an unpleasant and derogatory language
that it calls to mind the need to find a way of making the best
out of life. The situation is made worse by the complimentary
witness of other Bible passages such as Ecclesiastes 1:2:
Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is
vanity.
Job 14:1-2 that’s says :
MAN that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of
trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth
also as a shadow, and continueth not.
Furthermore, the experiences of life tallies with the Word of God
in the most perfect sense, as revealed in the biblical testimonies
of people such as Moses, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Esther,
Ruth,David, Solomon, Elijah, John the Baptist, and the Apostles.
The Stories of the life of these people of God are full of hard
labour, uncertainty, disappointment, betrayal,
persecution, failure, and death. Though there people were mostly
prophets and anointed kings, yet their stories show that they
ended well only by divine intervention. Bible scholars generally
identified Moses as the author of Psalm 90. The counsel of this
great prophet who succeeded in life despite having his own fair
of troubles and tribulations should therefore be taken seriously.
Psalms 90:12 says :
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts
unto wisdom.
True wisdom comes from God alone and it is quite different
from worldly wisdom that is based on human cleverness,
insight, and intuition without Gods revelation which brings little
profit. This passage speakers of the ability to make the most of
our time in this world, despite the brevity of life. To do this
require a new understanding of the Meaning of life. To number
our days is to value the time we have by using it for eternal
purposes. Focusing on eternity which then produces a heart of
wisdom, enables a child of God to live in line with the word of
God.
Godly wisdom is made available by digging deep into the Word
of God. It is received through total submission to the will of
God, impacted to Christians by Gods Holy Spirit, and graciously
given in response to the fervent prayers of the saints of God. As
you begin to dip deeper into the Word of God in total submission
to His will in prayers, He will pour down His heavenly wisdom
upon your life in Jesus name.
Prayer Point :
Father, please fill me with the wisdom to excel in life and
ministry in Jesus name.

COMMANDED TO REJOICE

By Pastor E. A. Adeboye
Memorise: For I know the thoughts that I
think toward you, saith the Lord,
thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected.
Jeremiah 29:11
Read: Philippians 4:1-7, 4 Therefore, my
brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my
joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord,
my dearly beloved.
2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech
Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in
the Lord.
3 And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow,
help those women which laboured with me
in the gospel, with Clement also, and with
other my fellow labourers, whose names are
in the book of life.
4 Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I
say, Rejoice.
5 Let your moderation be known unto all
men. The Lord is at hand.
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing
by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made
known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all
understanding, shall keep your hearts and
minds through Christ Jesus.
Bible in one year: Luke 2:22-4:15, Job 22:
1-11
The commandment to rejoice seems to be
a repeated theme in the book of
Philippians. First, Philippians 2:18, then
3:1, and 4:4. Why did Paul pay so much
attention to the word rejoice? On a closer
look at all, rather, Paul’s emphasis is on
the term “rejoice in the Lord”. He was
trying to draw a line between the common
rejoicing that happens to all human beings
and the art of rejoicing in the Lord. God
wants us to know that joy is a matter of
realm, because there are diverse types of
joy and it is the realm of joy that makes
the difference.
There is a rejoicing that is common to all
men, it is a feeling of joy that depends on
situations
and circumstances around us and it is
temporal and short-lived: this joy is
unsubstantial and evanescent. However,
there is a delight that comes with God’s
presence, it is divine and powerful; the joy
of the Lord. This joy is also called the ‘joy
of salvation’, it is real, it is a great kind of
joy, it is endless, and an everlasting joy
that brings down the presence of God into
the hearts of men. Apostle Peter had this
to say about this kind of rejoicing in 1 st
Peter 1:8:
“Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom,
though now ye see him not, yet believing,
ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of
glory:”
What makes rejoicing in the Lord so
important that God had to repeatedly
command us to rejoice? It is the very first
miracle that happens to a person when he
becomes born again. The joy of the Lord
is immediately shed in the heart of the
fellow. The unspeakable expression of the
joy of salvation is therefore the most vital
and undeniable proof that a person is
genuinely born of God. The wisdom of God
commanded it repeatedly in the Bible, and
emphasised it in Philippians at least for
two major reasons. First, being born again
is a spiritual walk with God, the joy of the
Lord is the token of our connectedness to
God, losing the joy therefore, is another
token of disconnection from God. You will
never be disconnected from God in Jesus’
name. Secondly, God knows that a
genuine conversion to Christianity would
cause a forceful separation and
disconnection from the worldly system of
thought and action, which naturally leads
to rejection, persecution, and diverse
temptations. Therefore, the joy of the Lord
is provided as an offensive weapon of
consolation, encouragement, and strength
in the face of persecution. That is why
Philippians 4:4 says;
“Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I
say, Rejoice.”
God commanded His people to rejoice, He
was not giving a suggestion or
permission, neither did He make it a
matter of choice. We are compelled to
rejoice in the Lord as a necessary
ingredient to the Christian faith. Rejoicing
is founded on and derived through the
Word of God, it is needful in affliction, it
brings comfort and strength to press
forward in times of trouble.
Prayer Point
Father, please fill my heart with your
heavenly joy, that is all I need from You

FULFILLING GOD’S PURPOSE IV

FULFILLING GODS PURPOSE IV

MEMORISE:
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

📖 READ : Genesis 18:17-19

17.  And the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;

18.  Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?

19.  For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Mark 14:43-16:8 and Job 21:1-16

📝 MESSAGE:

The Bible declared the father as the head of home- head of the mother and the children. As such, fathers have complete authority within the household to direct the affairs of the family, and to administer discipline when necessary. However, Apostle Paul admonishes that fathers should handle authority over their children with care; they are to be careful not to provoke their children to wrath. Some fathers are guilty of using their authority unreasonably in ways that cause their children to harbour resentment. However, fathers have the responsibility to bring their children up in the way of the Lord. In many cultures today, parents have submitted and completely relinquished their God given responsibility to raise godly children to school teachers, Sunday School teachers, pastors, or governmental institutions. Every Children parent should know that God will hold them responsible for the success or failure of their wards. Children are God’s heritage, we have an awesome responsibility and authority over them, we are responsible for them before God, and we will surely render our account to God over them.

Are there any particular reason (s) why parents, particularly fathers, are called by God to play such a crucial, God ordained role in the upbringing or discipleship of their children ? Ephesians 6:1-4 gives us a clue:

“CHILDREN, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth. And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord”.

God knows that from childhood, little children gradually lean to love and trust their parents because of the relationship they have. Children normally grow up to receive love and care from their parents in form of feeding, clothing, washing, and protection from cold and other harmful circumstances. Therefore children naturally gravitate towards their parents. For the same reasons, children are more likely to learn the ways and manners of their parents by default. Most children would choose to learn from their parents because parents are the first heroes of children. God in His wisdom is fully aware of these factors; He therefore designed the family to take advantage of the opportunity provided by nature.

The Bible provides a very good balance here; children are to obey their parents, while parents are to treat their children with respect so that they will obey without coercion. God expects children to obey their parents for Christ’s sake, even if their parents are not believers. Also, children should not commit any sinful act just because their parents command them to. When faced with choice between the two, children must obey God rather than man.

⏩ PRAYER POINT:

Father, please make me a successful parents; don’t let me fail You over my children.

HYMN O JESUS,  I HAVE PROMISED

O Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou forever near me,
My Master and my Friend;
I shall not fear the battle
If Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway
If Thou wilt be my Guide.

Oh, let me feel Thee near me;
The world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle,
The tempting sounds I hear;
My foes are ever near me,
Around me and within;
But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
And shield my soul from sin.

Oh, let me hear Thee speaking,
In accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion,
The murmurs of self-will;
Oh, speak to reassure me,
To hasten, or control;
Oh, speak, and make me listen,
Thou Guardian of my soul.

O Jesus, Thou hast promised
To all who follow Thee
That where Thou art in glory
There shall Thy servant be;
And Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
Oh, give me grace to follow,
My Master and my Friend.

Oh, let me see Thy footmarks,
And in them plant mine own;
My hope to follow duly
Is in Thy strength alone.
Oh, guide me, call me, draw me,
Uphold me to the end;
And then to rest receive me,
My Savior and my Friend.
